Meet Coach Scott DeJong
Carlsbad High School’s CIF Championship winning baseball program is excited about the recent hire of Scott DeJong, who at the ripe age of 29 is already a seasoned veteran of the game!
Our New Lancer Baseball Coach!
Originally an East Coaster, Scott hails from New Jersey, where after graduating from Eastern Christian High School, he went on to play collegiate baseball at UConn (2011-12) & Felician University (2012-14). Scott was drafted as a junior by the LA Dodgers in 2014 then later signed with the Miami Marlins so he brings three years of incredibly valuable minor league playing experience to our boys at Ralph Cripe Field.
Scott also has quite the coaching pedigree, since he started helping out with lessons, camps & clinics all the way back in high school; he assistant coached at his alma mater Felician from 2017-2018 while finishing his Criminal Justice degree then upon switching coasts, assistant coached at CSU San Marcos from 2018-2019. He subsequently put all his eggs into the small business owner basket in 2020, becoming the proprietor of the 5 Tool Hitting Center here in Carlsbad, which is where many of our varsity & JV players first benefitted from Coach DeJong’s instruction.
Off the field, Coach DeJong is the lucky husband to 2011 CHS grad Haylee and proud father to 7-year-old Mila, 3-year-old Micah and fur babies Diamond (a Lab) & Lucky (a Great Dane). A self-proclaimed avid coffee drinker, he loves spending family days at the beach and hitting the mountains in the winter. Next time you see Coach DeJong, be sure to give him a warm welcome & let’s all offer him our support via strong fundraising efforts, field prep help, snack bar coverage & any other volunteer needs that arise to insure a successful inaugural season for him in 2023!
